THESIS CONTENT
Abstract: Soundscape music is a contemporary form of art music, which is based upon listening to sonic environments; whatever form they come in. It is a genre that has been growing over the last three decades. One of its main foundations is acoustic ecology, which is concerned with the analysis and preservation of sonic environments and their characteristics.
My task was to provide a basis for the understanding of the background and nature of soundscape music and the threatened ecology of sound, and to show how growing awareness of noise pollution, modern technological growth in recording and travel are helping soundscapes to remain individual.
